If you have questions, ideas or concerns as an entrepreneur in Bonaire, Ottmar wants to hear from you.
Bonaire is changing fast. Technology, tourism, new regulations and an AI‑driven economy are reshaping how we all do business. In this transition, the Chamber of Commerce should be a strong, practical partner — not just a registry you visit when you start a business.
As a Board Member, Ottmar wants the Chamber to be more approachable, more transparent and more useful in the daily reality of entrepreneurs: small shops, freelancers, family businesses, startups and established companies alike.
Ottmar loves chess because it reflects real life: you look at the whole board, respect every piece, and think several moves ahead before you act. That is how he approaches financial advice, coaching – and the decisions the Chamber makes for Bonaire's entrepreneurs.
On the Board, he wants the Chamber to stop reacting at the last minute and start planning strategically: anticipating changes in technology, regulation and the global economy so that local businesses are always one move ahead, not two moves behind.
Vision. A Chamber of Commerce that serves as an inclusive, practical guide for all entrepreneurs in Bonaire – from small family businesses to growing companies – helping them navigate change with clarity, courage and support.
Mission. To bring practical vision to the KvK Board, turning decisions into direct support and making sure the Chamber represents all business interests on Bonaire.
- Experience as a financial advisor and coach
- A free, open mindset – always asking "Is there a better way?"
- A spiritual belief that everything happens for a reason
- A love of chess – thinking a few moves ahead for Bonaire
- Enjoying a good rum and cigar in honest conversation
"Whether we meet in a boardroom or over a rum and a cigar, my commitment is the same: honest conversation, clear agreements and decisions that truly serve our community."
– Ottmar Martie
1. Support & training for entrepreneurs
Advocate for more practical workshops and coaching through the Chamber – especially for small businesses – on topics like financial health, AI tools and digital visibility.
2. Transparency & communication
Push for clearer communication between the KvK and its members, so policies are explained in plain language and entrepreneurs always know what's coming and how it affects them.
3. Easier, future‑ready procedures
Work to simplify procedures and make doing business with the Chamber more efficient – using technology where it helps, without losing the human touch at the counter.
We need you to secure a seat on the Board. If you are a member of the Chamber of Commerce Bonaire and eligible to vote, your support is powerful.
- Mark your calendar for December 12 and vote for Ottmar Martie.
